If K-State changed your life, it is time to set a foundation of success and give back!” –Diane Parks

K-State has had a strong, positive impact on Diane and Tim Parks. Growing up in Manhattan, Tim’s father was a professor at K-State. It is where Tim and Diane met, earned their degrees and established long-lasting friendships. So, when the opportunity arose to create a scholarship with matching funds, Tim and Diane took advantage of it, creating a scholarship for students in the College of Human Ecology.

Diane hopes their gift will provide a student with the help they need to continue the path toward their education and career goals. For the students who leave school and are unable to return due to finances, Diane and Tim would like to help someone avoid that situation. The couple has a long history of giving to K-State and matching funds were an added benefit to providing this scholarship.

With the K-State Family Scholarship Program, new gifts of $30,000 are matched with $30,000 from the seed fund provided by the Carl and Mary Ice, for a total of $60,000. $10,000 goes into an expendable fund, making $2,000 scholarships available to be awarded to students immediately. The remaining $50,000 goes into the endowment, ensuring future generations of Wildcats will receive scholarships as well.

“Kansas State is the foundation for our family,” Diane said. “We believe it is important to support the university, as it was the beginning of what would become our careers. We have been very fortunate over the years and are able to provide another student with the opportunity to finish their education. I would encourage that if K-State changed your life, it is time to set a foundation of success and give back!”
